Early Morning at the Forty Foot

17th November 2012

Sandycove, County Dublin

A beautiful warm morning at the Forty Foot.

The Forty Foot is a deep water inlet hidden in the rock-strewn rugged coastline between Sandycove and Bullock Harbours just south of Dunlaoghaire.  It has for decades been a favourite place for swimmers throughout the whole year , even in winter.  It is a gentleman's swimming club, but since the 1970's women have been swimming there too.

Forty Foot, Sandycove, County Dublin.

A wild and windy morning at the Forty Foot.  Unbelievably there were 2 hardy souls getting ready for a dip while I was there.    I nearly went for a dip as well, when a few seconds after taking this shot I got drenched by a huge wave.
