this is a very popular swimming area with locals. It is also very slippy on the concrete here, and much and all as I wanted to take my photo, I was petrified of slipping and falling into the water (again ! ). A bather had just finished his swim, and was packed up and heading home. I took my chances and asked him would he mind hanging on for another 2 mins till I got my shot, and to save me and my camera if I slipped ! He kindly obliged, so John Finnegan from Dalkey, thankyou very very much :)

There wasnt much of a sunrise this morning, but my patience was rewarded with some beautiful light at around 9am. This was taken on the little beach between the harbour and the LifeBoat house.

Skerries, a small fishing town in north County Dublin.
Skerries, has always had a fishing tradition and once was one of the main fishing ports in Ireland. However it has only a small number of trawlers now. In the days of sail the harbour was also a busy trading port but with the arrival of steam ships this trade died away.

Skerries is a sea-side town located in north County Dublin on the east coast of Ireland. The name Skerries was derived from the Norse word meaning group of rocky islands. Skerries is a thriving fishing town. It has long sandy beaches, a secluded harbour and, three islands off shore – one of which can be reached at low tide. I took this shot at dusk. You can see the bathing area in the distance, known locally as "the Springers" and Colt Island.
