There's Something about Mary

There's something about Mary..

4th October 2011

At the official opening of Tullyallen's new playground by President Mary McAleese.

I had the pleasure of taking photos of our president today.

This was one of President McAleese's final public functions during her term in office.   She struck me as being very warm and approachable, and spent a considerable amount of time mingling and talking to the assembled crowds.

These photographs were the official photos for the Presidents office.  The rest of them can be seen here

I just brought one lens with me, the 17-40mm, and it was my first time to use the flash gun.  I had only bought it the week before !

Artist at Work......
Artist at work.

24th August 2011

The very talented Steve Kemp at work in his studio in Dublin.  Steve is an exciting Irish artist, specialising in stencil art.  Steve cuts out layers upon layers of templates, and sprays each layer with acrylic or spray paint to get just the right combination of shadow and depth.   He twists and  contorts what emerges and presents a multi-layered representation of life, offering us an insight into a truly different perspective on the world through KEMP’s eyes.
I had the opportunity to do a shoot with him in August 2011 to try out some new shapes and forms for his upcoming exhibition in New York in March 2012.

Steve himself was equally as vibrant as the work he produces, and the shoot was a refreshing and colourful experience. Following some shots in his home/studio we then took a stroll down to nearby Herbert Park to try out some new shapes and forms for future projects. Steve is currently working on an exhibition which will be opening in Goldmann Sachs Building in Manhattan in March 2012... With his great personality and his unique and distinctive style of artwork , Steve is destined to wow them all in the Big Apple.

Here he is pictured at his work bench cutting out some new templates. See some more photos here
