An Poc Fada All Ireland Championship is the only national contest for individual players of both Camogie and Hurling competing in their relevant category. The competition is based on the legend of "Tain Bo Cuailgne" when Cuchalann, who as the boy Setanta set out from his home to the Kings Court at Emain Macha hitting his sliothar on front of him. The Poc Fada is now in its 51st year traditionally begins at "An Fhana mor", Annaverna, County Louth. Competitors must puck a sliotar with a hurley to the top of Annaverna mountain, "An Ceide" and onwards to "Carn an Mhadaidh" and after a short break down to "An Gabhlan" finishing back at "An Fhana Mor", Annaverna. The whole course measures 5kms with all the senior men competing for the Setanta Cup.
